BENJAMIN A SHIMRAY

I am an Associate Professor in the department of Electrical Engineering at National Institute of Technology Manipur. I completed my Ph.D. at NIT Manipur, India; Post Graduate at The National Institute of Engineering, Mysore, Karnataka, India and undergraduate studies from Malnad College of Engineering, Hassan, Karnataka, India.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

I have been working in this institute since 3rd August 2011, thereby having more than 13 year of teaching, research and administrative experiences. I have guided Ph.D(2), M.Tech (15+)and B.Tech (10+) Scholars.

RESEARCH

The area of outreaching research interest includes:

(i)   Developing a decision support system for renewable energy planning that can somehow automatically and continuously learn from the environment and deal with fuzziness, similar to development of, what humans call common sense. Some of my work touches upon principles of cognitive science, neuroscience to draw upon inspiration from these disciplines. Some of my key papers are highlighted in my publication page.

(ii)  My Team is also working in developing a secure internet architecture (routing, network security), overlay and P2P networks etc. using Recursive InterNetwork Architecture (RINA)

(iii) Other area of interest includes-Control system, soft computing, signal processing, analog circuit design etc.
